Land acquisition
DLG needs to have sufficient land available to develop rural areas as desired. Land acquisition greases the wheels of land consolidation, since this is the only way that land can be exchanged and parts of a land consolidation area can be redesigned, for example for nature and recreation. Of the land acquired by the DLG, around seventy percent is withdrawn from agricultural use.
International
DLG is regularly asked to share its expertise and experience with other governments. The requirement for expertise on land acquisition is highly thematic, and is based on short advisory missions. How does a government agency operate in a land market, and how do you manage your land reserves? These issues are often on the agenda. There is also often a need for exchange of knowledge concerning suitable organizational structures and the how to decide as a government which pieces of land to purchase. DLG is approached for this specific government expertise both by new EU Member States and countries on other continents.
