Nature management

DLG makes an important contribution to nature management in the Netherlands, trough land consolidation and acquisition. Under the Management Programme, co-financed by the Rural Development Programme or by the EU, farmers and private landowners can claim subsidies for the development and management of nature areas and woodlands. In this way they can help to ensure that the quality of woodlands and nature reserves is maintained or improved or that agricultural land is transformed into wildlife areas.

International

DLG carries out advisory projects in many countries at the request of local and national authorities. It has contributed to the development and implementation of EU directive 1257 in countries such as Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria. Worldwide, the DLG provides advice on natural resource management and environmental impact assessment (EIA). Furthermore DLG is involved as a government partner to promote sustainable use of natural resources in Asia, Africa and Central America.
